TLP 2007-2 at Florennes

This year's second edition of the Tactical Leadership Program (see: Italian AAR) was held at Florennes. 2007 might be the last year this exercise is held at the Walonian Air Base. Plans exist to move this exercise permanently to southern Europe, although it's not certain that this will happen next year already. There are various reasons for this move, but the bad weather in northern Europe is an important factor. To give you an idea of the impact: during TLP 2007-1 almost every training mission in the last two weeks (air-to-ground phase) was cancelled due to the stormy weather.

Eight countries took part in TLP2007-2:

Czech Republic (L-159 ALCA)
France (Mirage 2000 and F1)
Greece (F-16)
Germany (Tornado IDS)
Italy (F-16)
Spain (F/A-18 and a Falcon 20 for ECM support)
UK (Tornado F3)
USA (F-15E and F-16)

Fortunately for the participants (and for us) the weather conditions during this TLP were excellent most of the time. 3Greens.nl visited Florennes a couple of times during week four and caught our first bit of tan this year. For the hundreds of aviation enthusiasts in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany there are only two TLP's left to attend if the move to southern Europe continues. TLP 2007-3 will take place at Karup Air Base (Denmark) and the last two courses at Florennes will be held in autumn this year. Let's hope the weather will be just as fine then as it was during this spring edition...
